Making More Progress

Today has been a wonderful day! I got up early and took Hailey out to breakfast and then shopping. Marc then took Abby out for a day of skiing, while I hung out with the other three and made puzzles, played games, and did lots of coloring. Tonight's agenda is ordering Jacob's favorite take-out (we are still not at a point where I would like to take him out for too long a period of time) for his birthday dinner and then cake and ice cream with the grandparents for dessert. Life is back to "normal" for us and it feels really good!

I had my doubts about whether we would ever get to this point, back when I was sitting in the ER holding a bag full of vomit a week after the neurosurgery. I wondered how I would ever get back to the times when I could take each of my kids on their one on one "mommy time" adventures to keep them each feeling special. My poor girls were feeling very neglected as we had to devote so much of our attention to the boys' healing process. Marc was so far behind on his school work when I first came back home from the hospital that it seemed impossible for him to ever catch up and I was running myself into the ground trying to give him the study time he needed while keeping the household running. Yet, here we are...the house is clean, the bills are paid, the kids are happy, Marc's caught up, my sanity is returning, and we are all getting to have a little fun again. Thank God for that!

To celebrate this beautiful Sunday, I thought that I would share another video of Zachary. This time he is walking barefoot with his walker, a skill that he has been working on quite a bit over the past few days. His determination always amazes me! Enjoy!!!
