Keeping Busy
As I sit here finishing my breakfast, kids still passed out in bed upstairs, I figured that I should post a quick update. The kids and I have been keeping pretty busy this week and all are happy and well. Yesterday, I took them to a local park where we usually go on our nature walks. I hadn't tried to take Zach on such a lengthy walking adventure since his surgery, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We have only asked him to walk the kinds of short distances required in his everyday routine thus far, but I figured that it was about time that we start strengthening those skinny little legs again (as much as he can tolerate). He did amazingly well (it's about a 2.5 mile journey around the whole pond) and he never complained about anything hurting on our first trip. We then had a nice picnic lunch under some trees in view of the pool, followed by some playtime on the playground.
It always amazes me how much the kids and I can accomplish when we are together. They have all learned how to take care of each other and help me when I need it. Abby is great about keeping an eye on Zachary and he responds so well to her. Hailey helps to make sure that Jacob does not wander off. Jacob loves to help me carry things. And Zachary is my comic relief and makes me smile when he spontaneously will come over and ask me for a hug. I am very blessed to have such great kids!
Today's adventure? Well, we are off to put some flowers on my Nana's grave (daisy's of course!) and then we are heading to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. I've kept the lunch thing a secret from them and they've been trying to guess what we are up to today since Wednesday. I've never taken anyone there, but Hailey and she loved it. I think that Zach will love the fish tanks and can't wait to see Jacob's face during the first "thunderstorm"...so much fun!
Well, off to make some french toast for the monkeys...I hear footsteps upstairs now! Have a wonderful day everyone!
